Growing up with ‘Harry Potter’

‘It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.’

‘Don't let the muggles get you down.’

I still remember the day when I got my first 'Harry Potter' book - I found it under the Christmas tree. At the beginning I wasn’t really convinced about the idea of reading books at all! You know, 10 year-old kid in the era of video games and computers…
A few days later I decided to read at least one chapter, guess what? It was AMAZING!
J.K. Rowling was able to create a whole new magical world: names, towns, shops, creatures, spells…Everything was based on Rowling's imagination.
The premiere of each 'Harry Potter' book was like a celebration to me! 'Harry Potter' fans lining up at bookstore, booksellers dressing up like wizards and witches…  Potter mania reached a fever pitch!

But what I appreciate the most about ‘Harry Potter' books and movies is the fact that I was growing up with ‘Harry Potter’ characters! They are inseparable part of my childhood. Look how they've changed!

Harry Potter might be considered as a simple fairytale, but for me it was just a beginning - the beginning of my irreversible obsession with fantasy books.
Although I appreciate Tolkien, Rice and Charlaine as well as Rowling – there’s something about ‘Harry Potter’ books that makes me pay attention to every little detail of this story. Guess it will stay that way forever.

  2. Have you read Terry Pratchett? Try, his writing is brilliant. Fantasy for grown-ups, with a pinch of salt and pepper.
